The VISEK Centre for the Promotion of Visual Art has been operating in conjunction with Kuvasto since October 12, 1987. It gives out grants annually for artists’ artistic work.
VISEK annually awards grants to professional visual artists and artist groups for artistic work. The grants are mainly covered from the remuneration funds allocated to VISEK by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture through which artists receive remuneration for private copying permitted by the copyright law.
The grant applications are peer reviewed by VISEK’s Executive Board, to which belong three members appointed by Kuvasto’s Executive Board. The term of office of a member is one year. The same person may be elected to VISEK’s Board for a maximum of three succeeding terms.
The application period of VISEK grants takes place in November. The names of the grant recipients are published on the Kuvasto website after the application period has ended.
